The newest Overwatch 2 patch dropped on May 29, 2025, and it’s bringing a bunch of adjustments to heroes, some competitive tweaks, and bug squashing. Season 10 is still underway, so these updates are here mostly for balancing purposes. Based on community feedback and gameplay trends, Blizzard’s trying to smooth out some rough spots.
Overwatch 2 May 29 Patch Update: Hero Changes – Buffs and Nerfs
Tanks
Winston
Winston got a bit of a nerf this time. His Barrier Projector is now on a 13-second cooldown instead of 12, which makes it just a little harder to keep up that bubble protection nonstop. It’s supposed to give players more room to respond to his dive plays.
Reinhardt
On the flip side, Rein sees a little buff. His Rocket Hammer swings faster now (from 5.0 up to 5.3 per second). It might not seem like a lot, but over time that’s gonna add up in close-range fights, which is where he thrives anyway.
Damage Heroes
Tracer
She got a slight damage tone-down. Her Pulse Pistols now deal 5.4 damage per bullet, down just a tick from 5.5. The devs say it’s to bring her burst damage into a better spot without harming her quick, darting playstyle.
Sojourn
Sojourn's Railgun secondary fire will charge a bit slower now—10% to be exact. This change is mostly about encouraging more use of her primary fire and less of the sudden one-shot pressure she could apply.
Support
Illari
Still performing strongly in a lot of matches, so Blizzard is reducing her Healing Pylon health from 75 to 60. Now it’ll be easier to shoot down, which hopefully makes her less oppressive without touching her core healing ability too much.
Lifeweaver
He’s had some overperformance issues with his ultimate. The Tree of Life healing per pulse has been lowered to 65 from 75. Aimed at making drawn-out fights less one-sided when he pops the ult.
Competitive System Tweaks
A new Decay Protection is being added to help players in higher ranks. If you reach Diamond or better, you won’t drop as fast from just a few losses. It’s meant to make climbing less frustrating and more stable, especially for dedicated players.
Bug Fixes and Other Adjustments
There’s also a bunch of bug fixes this time:
-
Fixed where Mauga’s Overrun would clip through walls.
-
Career Profile not showing Season 9 stats right—now fixed.
-
Custom crosshair responsiveness was improved on console platforms.
This patch doesn't completely shift the meta, but it targets some over performing heroes and helps even things out. Whether you’re into climbing comp or just playing casual matches, these updates should keep the game feeling fresh and more balanced. All changes are live now on every platform.
