Pavan ‘MrTomboy’ Kampelli Secures Bronze Medal in eFootball at 2024 Asian Esports Games

Apart from taking home the bronze medal, Pavan won a prize purse of USD 500.

The accomplishment for Indian esports thus came in the form of Pavan "MrTomboy" Kampelli as he bagged a bronze medal in eFootball in the 2024 Asian Esports Games (AEG) in Bangkok, Thailand, and helped India claim its first podium ever in a football sports simulation esports title. Pavan also defeated the 2022 eFootball World Finals Winner (Mobile), Asgard Azizi of Team Indonesia, 2-1, in his match toward the bronze.

Pavan's 2024 Asian Esports Games Performance Highlight

Pavan competed with some of the best eFootball players from all over Asia, and it was a daunting start against eventual winner TXRO of Team Thailand, but he showed great resilience and staged a comeback by winning 2-1 against a player from Indonesia, one from Syria, and finally one from Laos, thereby confirming a historic bronze medal. This impressive performance allowed Pavan to advance to the Lower Bracket Final, where he fought TXRO valiantly for a spot in the Grand Finals, but fell to a narrow defeat.

Pavan reflected on his achievement: “Winning this bronze feels surreal. It's a huge honour to represent India and bring back the first medal ever in eFootball. The game was very intense, but I'm proud of the fight through the bracket that I made. It is just the beginning, and I am motivated to do even better in upcoming tournaments."

  • Silver: ParkJi (South Korea)
  • Bronze: Pavan ‘MrTomboy’ Kampelli (India)

Apart from taking home the bronze medal, Pavan won a prize purse of USD 500. His success hails from Sultanabad but will boost esports awareness in that region that has yet to view competitive gaming grow and become notable. Pavan built off an unbeaten winning streak throughout Phase 1 of WAVES Esports Championship eFootball where he topped the chart and earned a spot in the Grand Finale scheduled for February 2025.
