The Go Pass offers two tiers: a free version accessible to all trainers, and a paid Go Pass Deluxe that unlocks premium rewards. Players earn Go Points through gameplay, progressing through ranks to claim various in-game bonuses.
Niantic has unveiled a brand-new feature in Pokémon GO – the Go Pass – a seasonal progression system designed to reward active players. Available from April 1 to May 6, 2025, this feature is currently live in select regions as part of a limited-time trial.
The Go Pass offers two tiers: a free version accessible to all trainers, and a paid Go Pass Deluxe that unlocks premium rewards. Players earn Go Points through gameplay, progressing through ranks to claim various in-game bonuses.
How the Pokemon GO Go Pass & Go Pass Deluxe Works
The Go Pass functions as a rank-based reward track. Players accumulate Go Points by completing tasks in-game. This boosts their rank and unlock rewards. The Deluxe pass however offers significantly better rewards and a faster progression rate.
Note: All rewards must be claimed by May 8, 2025, 10:00 AM local time, and the Lucky Trinket reward must be used before May 11, 2025, 11:59 PM local time.
Free Go Pass Rewards
Trainers who stick to the free Go Pass will still receive a decent haul. These include:
- Encounters with Pokémon like Xerneas
- Stardust
- XP
- Poké Balls
- Candy
What’s in the Go Pass Deluxe?
Opting for the paid Go Pass Deluxe unlocks a wider variety of valuable items and upgrades. Rewards include:
- One Lucky Trinket
- Premium Battle Pass
- Incense
- Lucky Egg
- Incubator
- Lure Modules
- Candy XL
- Additional Pokémon encounters
Rank Milestones and Bonuses
As trainers progress through the ranks, special bonuses are unlocked at key milestones. Here’s what to expect:
- At Tier 1, the duration of Daily Adventure Incense is doubled
- Tier 2 grants increased XP and Stardust from Research Breakthrough rewards
- At Tier 3, players receive boosted XP and Stardust from hatching Eggs
All About the Lucky Trinket
The Lucky Trinket returns after its previous appearance during the GO Tour: Unova event. This powerful item is the final reward in the Go Pass Deluxe track and can create a Lucky Friend out of any qualifying connection.
Key details:
- It can be used with Great Friends or higher
- It works only once
- It guarantees that your next trade with that friend results in a Lucky Pokémon
- It must be used before May 11, 2025
Comparing Go Pass and Go Pass Deluxe
While both versions follow the same structure, the Deluxe edition offers superior rewards. Deluxe players gain access to better item drops and additional Pokémon encounters. On the other hand, the free Go Pass is the only tier that offers PokéCoins at select ranks. Both versions include cosmetic rewards like stickers, and both have a slightly reduced number of ranks compared to past pass systems.
The Go Pass system is currently being trialed and may roll out to more regions based on player feedback. If you're in an eligible area, this is a great time to maximize your gameplay rewards. Make sure to claim all your rewards by May 8 and use that Lucky Trinket before the deadline to get the most out of this event.
