Rainbow Six Siege X Launches Worldwide With Major Gameplay Overhaul

Rainbow Six Siege X launches with new mode, maps, and features for its 10th anniversary.

Ubisoft has launched Rainbow Six Siege X on June 10, delivering one of the biggest updates for the tactical shooter since it first came out. Released for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, this update comes as part of the 10th anniversary of the game and aims to take the franchise in a new direction.

Siege X Brings a Shift

Originally shown off back in March, Siege X also had a closed beta for selected players to test things out. The good part is that it’s free-to-play in multiple modes—Standard, Quick Play, and Dual Front—and includes a lineup of 26 operators that can be used from the start.

Buying any version of the full game lets you unlock Ranked mode once you hit level 50. For players who’re returning after a break, all game modes, including Ranked, become free to access automatically, and whatever progress you had earlier carries forward without any problems.

Dual Front Stands Out in the Update

The standout feature in Siege X is clearly Dual Front, a new 6v6 game mode that has two teams trying to protect their own area while also trying to take control of the other team’s zone. It’s more fast-paced and strategic at once, making players react based on how the match shifts.

Objectives are now dynamic—they can change in the middle of the match. Completing them right could even flip the match in your team’s favor. But keep in mind, this Dual Front mode won’t be available for PS4 or Xbox One players. It’s only coming to newer consoles and PC.

More Than Just One Mode

Alongside the new mode, Rainbow Six Siege X brings a range of improvements that make the whole game feel more polished and up-to-date. These include:

  • Five brand-new maps which are built with extra height and tactical movement in mind

  • A new rappel mechanic that lets you move more smoothly around buildings and walls

  • Improved audio system that makes it easier to hear what's going on around you

  • Better visuals overall, especially on newer systems where it runs much more cleanly

  • A refreshed interface, designed to be clearer and easier to use during and between matches

Ubisoft says this new update is meant to welcome fresh players but still keep the core fans interested with its layered gameplay and tactical depth. With all the visual upgrades, added content, and open-access model, Siege X is aiming to be a relaunch of sorts as the franchise moves into its second decade.

Rainbow Six Siege X is available now for download on all major platforms.
