REPO Unveils New Cart Cannon Weapon, Gameplay Tweaks in Upcoming Beta Update

The creators of REPO, Semiwork, has shown off a new weapon that’s going to be added in a next update for the game. In their May 16 video update, they shown the Cart Cannon, a big mounted weapon that can be used right on the player’s cart. It's not live yet, but will be coming to the beta version soon.

Since it came out in early access, REPO quickly became one of this year’s biggest indie games. The physics-based gameplay, mixed with silly group moments, gave it a unique charm that players seem to love. The game has teams collect items across each level, and then they got to protect those items from enemies and damage to keep their value up. The Swedish studio recently released its first big update on the open beta branch, and now more is on the way with this new Cart Cannon.

Cart Now Shoots Things — Also, Some Fixes Too

The new Cart Cannon makes things even more interesting. One player can push the cart while another shoots enemies or objects with the cannon. It’s strong, but players need to be careful with aiming so they don’t blow up the wrong stuff. Also, the weapon changes into a Cart Laser if you spin it around, which gives it a second kind of attack.

The update isn’t just about the cannon though. Semiwork said they're changing a few things based on feedback from players. Health Packs are getting a fix — before, there was a glitch where players could basically get unlimited healing. That bug is fixed now, and they’re also making the packs give more health in the early stages. But after level 5, the healing becomes less effective with each level. They said this will help newer players survive the start of the game better.

Energy Crystals are also being improved so they’re more useful and worth buying. On top of that, some enemies are being changed a bit. Now, smaller objects will stun certain enemies more easily, which should make the first few levels less difficult.

How to Try It Out Early

Anyone who wants to check out the Cart Cannon early can do that by going into Steam, opening REPO’s game settings, and switching to the beta version. Right now, mods only work on the regular (live) version, but players can move back and forth between the beta and live game anytime.

REPO is still in early access, but Semiwork is clearly not slowing down. After the Overcharge feature and bug fixes added recently, this new Cart Cannon and the rest of the changes show the devs are committed to growing the game. More chaos, more strategy — and now, a cart with a gun.
