This move reinforces Riot Games’ commitment to the Indian gaming market further to popular demand for the game from Indian fans

Riot Games today announced a renewed focus on serving the local community for its popular team-based strategy game, League of Legends (LoL), in India.

In 2024, League of Legends fans in India can expect a wide range of exciting opportunities, initiatives and experiences. Riot Games plans to engage with the community through content creator collaborations, original localized content, influencer-driven open tournaments, and show matches, along with multiple community tournaments, high-level discord activations, and official swag and item giveaways on the official LoL IN/SA discord. These initiatives aim to foster a stronger connection between the game and its South Asian player base, providing a more immersive and enjoyable experience for fans.

"We're excited to be bringing League of Legends to the forefront in India. This isn't just a game; it's a global phenomenon that's all about passion, competition, and having a blast. We've seen firsthand how much India loves gaming, and we're here to take that love to the next level. As League reaches its fifteenth anniversary, we're committed to empowering Indian gamers with everything they need to become legends in their own right.” said Arun Rajappa, Country Manager, Riot Games, India and South Asia.

Riot Games, in association with The Esports Club, is thrilled to announce the first of many community cups powered by Zotac Gaming, a new LoL open-for-all tournament series. Season 1 kicks off on July 11th, 2024, with subsequent seasons to follow till December. In addition, The Esports Club Streamer Clash will feature some of India's top content creators, streamers, and players from the region battling it out for exciting prizes and bragging rights.

Moreover, LoL recently announced their global summer event, Anima Squad, will return with a new game mode, Swarm, on July 17. Anima Squad reimagines the classic "League of Legends" champions as cybernetic, animal-themed, super-powered warriors standing together against the civilization-ending invasion of the abyssal Primordians. The final chapter of Arcane, the animated series from the world of League of Legends, is also arriving on Netflix in November 2024. Players can enjoy the first teaser for Arcane season two, available now.

Additionally, for League of Legends players experiencing high ping on their current server, transferring to the Singapore (SG) server will significantly improve the connection and gameplay. For a guide on how to transfer, please check this article.

Over the past year, Riot Games has also been actively enhancing community engagement and the player experience for its multiplayer 5v5 tactical shooter game, VALORANT, in India and South Asia. Through initiatives like VALORANT Challengers South Asia, Game Changers South Asia, and Convergence, they have elevated the gaming landscape in the region
