Konami has confirmed a full Silent Hill 1 remake at its Press Start showcase. Developed by Bloober Team, the game aims to revive the PS1 classic with modern psychological horror. Will it follow Shattered Memories or stick to its roots?
Konami Drops a Chilling Surprise: Silent Hill 1 Remake Confirmed
At its recent Press Start event, Konami brought fans on a wild ride from tactical espionage to psychological horror. The show kicked off with fresh details about Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater’s new online multiplayer mode and closed with a spine-tingling reveal that has Silent Hill fans buzzing.
The biggest surprise? A brand-new remake of the original Silent Hill is officially in the works, and it’s being developed by none other than Bloober Team—the same crew behind the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake.
From F to 1: A Haunted Legacy Continues
The show wasn’t all bangers—some free-to-play segments felt like filler—but Konami made up for it with major reveals. Alongside a deeper dive into Silent Hill f, the publisher ended on a high note by confirming the original Silent Hill is getting a proper modern remake.
This might come as a curveball for fans who thought Silent Hill 3 would be next in line, but it actually makes perfect sense. Since SH3 continues the story from SH1, it’s a natural move to remake the original first. If this trend continues, SH3 could be next on Bloober’s checklist.
Bloober Team's Haunted Playlist Keeps Growing
Bloober Team is officially locked in as Konami’s go-to for revitalizing the Silent Hill franchise. After making waves with the atmospheric Silent Hill 2 remake, they’re back to breathe new life into the eerie fog-filled streets of the original SH1.
We didn’t get much more than a logo during the announcement, but knowing Bloober’s track record with psychological horror (Layers of Fear, The Medium), expectations are high.
And just in case you were wondering—yes, they’re busy. Bloober is also juggling Cronos: The New Dawn, while Konami has Silent Hill f set to release this September. So it might be a while before we get more juicy details about SH1’s remake.
Will It Borrow from Shattered Memories?
This isn't the first time Silent Hill 1 has been reimagined. Back in 2009, Shattered Memories hit the Wii with a wildly different take on the original game—focusing more on psychological profiling and ditching combat altogether.
Now, fans are curious: will Bloober Team stick to the classic PS1 roots, or borrow elements from Shattered Memories to add some modern twists? That’s still under wraps, but whichever route they go, it’s clear this will be a huge nostalgia trip for longtime fans and a terrifying introduction for newcomers.
What’s Next for the Franchise?
With remakes of SH2 and SH1 now officially on the board, it's starting to look like Konami is laying the groundwork for a complete Silent Hill revival. If all goes well, Silent Hill 3 might be next, followed by potential updates to Silent Hill 4: The Room—and who knows, maybe even redemption arcs for Homecoming and Downpour.
