In October, THQ Nordic shared a video. It was Halloween-themed and included glimpses from The Cosmic Shake and Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated. But the real surprise was at the end. SpongeBob and Patrick, their shadows turned into something like ghosts, then the words “an all-new adventure awaits… 2025” appeared.
Fans had gotten excited from this, though no one knew what it meant exactly. Only later in 2025, South Korea and Germany game boards rated a title called Titans of the Tide. That is supposedly the new SpongeBob game, which is teased in the trailer. But not many things are confirmed yet.
Not All Is Known So Far
What will this game be? Not truly sure. THQ Nordic is probably publishing it again, since they did before. Some people believe it has something scary in the theme. Ghostly shapes from the teaser, and the Flying Dutchman showing briefly—he could be the villain? Might be. Or maybe just another spooky adventure with different characters.
Also, the name Titans of the Tide sounds big. Maybe we can play both SpongeBob and Patrick? Switch between them like before? That is what is assumed from the trailer’s style and what fans are discussing. However, without a gameplay video, everything is not fully clear.
We may think it will be in a 3D platform style like the older ones. There may be some new gimmicks or ideas. It should be bigger than the previous title if it releases in 2025 as expected.
What Will It Mean for Switch 2
Nintendo Switch 2 is released in 2025, with games already coming for it. It will probably become a popular platform. Because of that, Titans of the Tide will most likely come on it. Even if no platform has yet been revealed, it is expected.
Switch 2 has more power, so maybe the visuals and mechanics will be smoother. If developers use it rightly, players get to experience deeper gameplay. It could become an early hit on the console, even for people who don’t follow SpongeBob.
