RR losses on new map may result in reduced RR loss and full gain for winning. This leak promises faster ranking and so on but raises concerns about trolling. Find out what this means for Valorant’s competitive scene and if Riot can keep the balance.
We all know that when Riot releases a map, there are 2 kinds of players. One half jumps into that map immediately and the other? Just religiously ignores it for 7-8 weeks till… they have no choice. But now, this RR leak may change things up. Meaning, players can now lose in the new map and only have half the RR loss deducted. But the best part? If you win, you get full gains.
Yep, that's right! Now, one problem is solved… in exchange for many other problems. If you’re confused, let me fill you in. Let’s get into it
Will Valorant Have Reduced RR Loss for 2 Weeks On New Maps?
Yea, if the Reduced RR leak actually manifests — it will be huge. Players will not only rank up faster with the full RR if they win, but improve their skill play and get to work on meta shifts earlier.
Players won’t get scared of losing, making them play more creatively and maybe just maybe also be less toxic — which might be a hard stretch. Either way, you might be asking what the issue could be. The leaks look great until you realise that if players think they won’t get punished for playing bad, they’re just going to start trolling.
Is Reduced RR A Good Move?
In short yes, but only if Riot makes changes by locking down on trolling. Because, let’s be for real — most players don’t throw because they’re scared of the penalty loss. Now? If proper barricades aren't put in place, players will throw based on sex, gender, voice, skin and the list goes on.
While throwing isn’t new for those reasons, it will definitely be way worse now. Or players might just go AFK.

The thing is, Riot’s report for throwing needs to get an upgrade because players only actually face the consequences out of the game — when that game is already over. So, perhaps Riot needs to look into compensating RR based on trolls just like they do with cheaters? With the Replay system upcoming, this might be the nudge we need. What do you think about this leak? Should it come to Valorant alone or should it come with proper safeguards along it?
