Subway Surfers celebrates 13 years with its 200th city, global events, and exciting new content.
On May 12, 2025, SYBO Games is celebrating the 13th birthday of Subway Surfers with a big update, releasing into the long-running World Tour series, which has just welcomed its 200th city with Copenhagen as a special return-to-the-roots-type event.
World Tour Retrospective: 21 Cities in 21 Days
Introduced back in 2013, the World Tour had transformed the game into a sort of culture, taking the players through cities like Tokyo, New York, Paris, and Rio. And now, 13 years later, the game returns to Copenhagen, where it was conceived by SYBO in partnership with Kiloo, making this update both a celebration and a homecoming.
To celebrate, they will host a special World Tour retrospective: 21 cities in 21 days. Players will be able to pick up World Tour suitcase tokens during the event, which open up one city per day, 21 in all, based on fan-favourite destinations over the past ten years. It's a frantic blast from the past created to delight existing fans and new players alike.
New Characters, Outfits, and Boards
Just like the cities rotate, the anniversary update comes along with two new characters, Loc and Stevie, each carrying the magic of their own. Players can now also unlock themed outfits, exclusive hoverboards, and a bunch of limited-time rewards that wrap nostalgia with brand-new elements.
A Message From SYBO
SYBO CEO Mathias Gredal Nørvig expressed his excitement for the occasion:
Celebrating 13 years and hitting the 200th city is a huge moment for the entire Subway Surfers community. We are proud of where the game is and what it shall become.” Whether you have been surfing from day one or you are coming back for another ride, this anniversary event is the perfect reason to jump right back in.
Thanks to the handful of legacy and a bunch of new surprises, Subway Surfers proves that this is not just a relic from the mobile gaming golden era; it’s still standing tall as the front runner.
