Explore Indus Battle Royale's new Battle Royale eXtraction mode and its Web3 partnership.
SuperGaming, the Pune-based developer behind Indus Battle Royale, has announced a new game mode called Battle Royale eXtraction. According to CEO and co-founder Roby John, the mode is undergoing a soft launch in SuperGaming’s test labs and Brazil.
John stated on X (formerly Twitter), “Soft-launching in our test labs and Brazil, we will be testing this new gameplay experience with our community. Indus has evolved a ton since its launch, thanks to your feedback and support. Stay tuned for more updates.
A Game Mode or a Standalone Title?
Interestingly, Battle Royale eXtraction was spotted as a separate title on the Brazilian Play Store, leading to speculation about why a mode within Indus is being launched independently. According to the Play Store listing, the game offers a 50-player battle royale experience centred on looting and survival. Notably, the Virlok map, a staple of Indus Battle Royale, appears in this new release as well.
Typically, game studios introduce new modes through updates or beta versions within the main game. However, SuperGaming has taken a different approach. When asked for clarification, the company told IGN India, “This is under standard gaming practices, wherein new modes are tested in select markets, in this case Brazil and our test labs.”
Web3 Integration Despite Previous Statements
Adding another layer of complexity, SuperGaming has partnered with B3, a gaming blockchain, to develop a game chain within B3’s open gaming ecosystem. This move contradicts earlier statements in which the company asserted that they had “no plans to integrate Web3 into Indus.”
Previously, a leaked Web3 development timeline had hinted at NFT drops, an in-game store, and token launches, which SuperGaming initially dismissed. However, this latest partnership suggests a shift toward blockchain gaming despite prior denials and the company’s insistence that Indus was a Web2-focused title.
Indus Battle Royale, since its launch in October 2024, has also had its fair share of setbacks such as a decline in user ratings and controversy. Notwithstanding, SuperGaming is rampantly increasing its services, offering fresh gameplay experiences just four months post-launch.

The decision to launch Battle Royale eXtraction separately raises questions about the company’s long-term strategy whether this is merely a testing phase or a sign of broader changes ahead. As Indus continues to evolve, players will have to wait and see how this new mode and potential Web3 elements impact the game’s future direction.
