Nintendo has confirmed that the upcoming Switch 2 will launch in the U.S. at its previously announced price, offering relief to fans.
Nintendo has now confirmed that the standard price of the long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2 in the United States won't change. Accessories for the console, however, will be pricier. The business also made a change to the pre-book date for the new system.
Switch 2 Price Stays the Same
In spite of fear about increasing costs of production and inflation, Nintendo has opted to maintain the cost of the Nintendo Switch 2 at $449.99 for the standard version in the United States. The pricing is in line with previous announcements and will not undergo any immediate adjustment. The Mario Kart World bundle will also continue to be offered at $499.99.
Nintendo's move to stay firm on the price of the console is also expected to satisfy fans eagerly looking forward to the new release. The firm's intention is to keep the allure of the Switch 2 as a cheap but high-performance gaming console.
Price Increase on Accessories
While the base price of Switch 2 is unchanged, some accessories aren't as lucky. The cost of many add-ons, such as the Joy-Con 2 controllers, Pro Controller, and Dock Set, has gone up by $5 to $10. This is due to outside forces like new tariffs and the general uncertainty of the global economy.
Nintendo has indicated that future price increases may be put in place, subject to how the market develops. The company assured people that it still keeps the matter under close observation.
Preorder Date Delayed
Nintendo originally intended for U.S. preorders to start on April 9. However, because of doubts about the cost of accessories and other issues, the preorder date has been rescheduled to April 24. This gives Nintendo time to realign its pricing strategy in light of new tariffs and other financial realities.
The console will continue to launch on June 5, 2025, as scheduled. Big retailers like GameStop, Target, and Walmart will be part of the preorder. Yet, it is still unknown if Amazon will become a part of the list of participating stores.
