Fahkumram returns to Tekken 8 as new updates bring fighters, stages, and collaborations.
Bandai Namco has confirmed in an official statement that Fahkumram, the powerful Muay Thai fighter, is returning as the next downloadable content (DLC) character to Tekken 8. He is one of a series of updates planned to be released throughout the spring and summer seasons aimed at adding and improving the game in response to mixed community criticism over its balance problems.
Fahkumram, introduced in Tekken 7 initially as a downloadable content fighter, will finally be part of the cast roster in the upcoming Version 2.03 patch later this summer. The fighter, known for his extremely tattooed body and aggressive fighting, was first presented with a rich dramatic background concerning coercion by an army syndicate that had kidnapped his family members. His return is hinted at in a new trailer which mirrors his initial reveal, with him bursting out of an enclosed container and back onto the battlefield.
The recent additions arrive as part of Season 2's content update rollout for Tekken 8, which already welcomed back Anna Williams to the fray. The longtime fan favorite character and Nina Williams' sister returned in February, although her redesign caused mixed feelings among the game's community. Bandai Namco assured us that two more legacy characters and one new one are due to be released prior to the present season ending.
Three updates in total are set to go live between May and late summer:
- Version 2.01 (May 13): Adds Tekken Ghost Showdown, a new free mode within the Fight Lounge, as well as cosmetic packs available for purchase, Cyber Phantom and Vigilante.
- Version 2.02 (June 3): Introduces a co-op event with Karate Kid: Legends, including themed hoodies, a "Vision Takeover" event, and new fighter costumes for characters such as Kuma, Panda, and Dragunov, including alternate color schemes.
- Version 2.03 (Summer): Sees the official return of Fahkumram, along with a special Pac-Man crossover celebrating the arcade icon's 45th anniversary. New additions are a Pac-Pixels battle stage, themed hit effects, character accessories such as plush ghost packs and Pac-Man clothing, and a number of celebratory items.
Along with the fresh content, each patch should include roster changes as part of sustained efforts to remedy balance issues. Since Season 2 began, the game has been under continued criticism for inconsistent character power levels. Although emergency hotfixes have been sent out, Bandai Namco seems dedicated to a more comprehensive overhaul through these planned patches.
