In the Upper Bracket Final of VALORANT Masters Toronto, Paper Rex locked in their Grand Final spot by defeating Wolves Esports in a close 2-0 series.  While the result may show a clean sweep, the series was much closer than it looks on paper, with both teams putting up a strong fight across both maps. Let’s take a look at how the match unfolded, map by map.

Map 1: Lotus

Lotus has always been one of Paper Rex’s strongest maps, and with good reason. Historically, they’ve dominated teams here, so many fans expected a smooth ride for them. But Wolves Esports came prepared and pushed PRX to the limit.

The first half was surprisingly in Wolves’ favor. Their early aggression and well-timed rotations helped them take a 7-5 lead going into halftime. It looked like an upset was brewing.

However, Paper Rex came alive in the second half, starting off with four consecutive round wins. Wolves still didn’t back down and managed to push the map into overtime, showing just how much they've improved throughout the tournament.

Eventually, PRX’s composure and experience helped them close it out in the extra rounds. d4v41 stepped up big for the team, leading with 26 kills and 279 ACS, and was crucial in clutch moments.

Map 2: Ascent

On Ascent, things started off promising for Wolves again. Since this was their map pick, they opened up with confidence, but it didn’t take long for PRX to turn the tides.

Midway through the first half, PRX’s defensive setup became too solid to crack, especially with something finding his form and shutting down key pushes. The half ended 8-4 in favor of Paper Rex.

Wolves tried to recover in the second half, but the momentum was already swinging heavily in PRX’s favor. The Southeast Asian squad continued to dominate both on attack and defense, closing out the map 13-8. PRXsomething ended the map as PRX’s top fragger with 19 kills, helping seal the win and series.

With this victory, Paper Rex have now secured their place in the Grand Final, continuing their strong run through the upper bracket. As for Wolves Esports, their journey isn’t over yet. They’ll now face the winner of Fnatic vs G2 Esports in the Lower Bracket Final, where only one more team will get a chance to challenge PRX for the title.
