Valorant’s Storm Maw Bundle Faces Backlash: Why Fans Are Unhappy

Valorant players are slamming Riot’s new Storm Maw bundle, citing declining skin quality and reused animations. Find out why fans are frustrated and what it means for Riot’s future.

Riot Games has officially unveiled the Storm Maw bundle and fans are not pleased. The bundle features a skin collection with ‘menacing’ designs inspired by monstrous energy. However, the only truly terrifying thing about it is that Riot decided to release it. Let’s get into it.

A Decline In Skin Quality

There’s no doubt that Valorant has created gorgeous skins in the past, however, according to players, Storm Maw doesn’t seem to be one of them - which is a consistent problem that players have picked up on with Riot in general. So, why did this particular skin miss the mark so completely?

Riot’s Priorities

The answer is simple, just like the priority issues with the re-play system. Riot simply does not have the resources to focus on skins when they are releasing so many projects alongside. They are cutting corners to reduce time and work-load, thus, the skin quality is getting affected, it might have a few connections with the layoff Riot conducted in 2024 as well. However, it primarily comes down to cutting corners.

Community Reactions

Fans took to social media to express their frustrations and the reaction has been nothing short of brutal. One player pointed out “ Cant even remember the last time riot released an original, beautiful and creative bundle” while another commented “tired of these hideous aaa bundles.”

So, this begs the question, when will Riot stop reusing animations, skins or filler bundles? Will they keep going till the community’s trust has gone or will they keep going as is - by making gorgeous bundles once a month to keep the player base happy? Although this issue has stemmed for a while, players will have to ensure that Riot rethinks their approach to skins or animations, if Riot does not listen, there are high chances players might lose trust in them entirely.
