Talking to India Today Gaming’s Aaryanshi Mohan, Chief Sub Editor, Vinay Rao (Hades), Global Esports Operations of GodLike Esports spilled the beans on how this collaboration worked out, and what we can expect from GodLike Esports in the future.
The news of GodLike Esports taking part in PUBG Mobile Super League (PMSL) has created a sense of excitement in the minds of esports enthusiasts who had been waiting for a team from the country to make it to the global stage. The Indian esports giant has collaborated with Russia's Dagestan77 to form GodLike77.
Talking to India Today Gaming’s Aaryanshi Mohan, Chief Sub Editor, Vinay Rao (Hades), Global Esports Operations of GodLike Esports spilled the beans on how this collaboration worked out, and what we can expect from GodLike Esports in the future.
“Another bootcamp will be made,” HADES on GodLike Esports x Dagestan77
For the unversed, GodLike Esports had talked about finding a way to make it to the EWC, after S8UL Esports’ participation was announced. We often talk about finding a way when there’s a will, right? And that’s exactly what they executed. “We always had the vision of finding a way to make it to EWC 2025, and I was always in touch with international teams. So, we found a way to make this happen with PUBG Mobile’s Dagestan77.
“I feel this game has the potential to make it big, and it still has a huge fanbase in India. We have also added a new player to the team. He is like a prodigy, and will come as a surprise for other teams.”
The biggest concern for everyone when it comes to collaboration is finding a way to align visions, and that’s where working together, staying together, and finding friendships in the middle of pressure work best. And that’s where a bootcamp with all the players, Indian and Russian, would help facilitate the best execution of a plan.
“If and when the team qualifies, we will create a bootcamp for them near the country. Maybe Nepal or Kazakhstan. But that will only happen when the team qualifies.
“For now, we will have an overview of everything and will just observe how everything pans out with the team,” said HADES.
At EWC 2025 with S8UL Esports
Now, if GodLike77 makes it to the top three of PMSL, they would directly make it to the EWC 2025 (PMWC 2025) and would get a chance to represent the country at some level. But the question still remains, who do you, as a fan, back in this situation? Hades has a simple reply to it.
But before that, let us understand the fan war. S8UL and GodLike are two popular esports organisations in India. S8UL Esports is a part of the partner program, and GodLike Esports has a major opportunity at hand. In India, both compete for a popular title, BGMI and fans don’t step back from supporting their team at any cost. This has been a phenomenon since PUBG Mobile was still playable in India.
But what happens when both teams go to represent India and play for the national flag’s pride? HADES has a very simple reply for it. He says, “When we are on the home ground, we will compete against each other fiercely. But when we go to represent the nation, I want the whole community to cheer for both of us. When we are going global, all of us are one.” HADES also mentions that the global teams have always looked down upon us as a region.
“And if there’s one thing we can surely be proud of, it has to be our fanbase. We have to be united and showcase that our region is capable of standing with them, and our fanbase has to be united in this case.”
But what about BGMI players?
Now, the Indian audience has a soft spot for GodLike’s BGMI lineup. So, for the fans, we also asked HADES if any of the players could compete under this newly formed GodLike77 banner. If you’re not aware, GodLike’s BGMI lineup currently consists of Jonathan, Punk, Simp, Admino, ZGod and Zap.
Sadly, HADES had rough news for the fans. “Under Krafton’s rule, BGMI players can’t play PUBG Mobile, since that is under Tencent, but rest assured, when we call the PUBG Mobile team in India, they will create content with each other, and we will also have 4v4 matches so that they can understand and learn from each other.”
What’s in store for GodLike next? That’s a conversation for another article. For now, the Indian flag will be seen competing on the global stage, and none of the global events will be missed.
