Explore Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, a soulslike game set in a mystical Ming Dynasty with fast combat, deep magic, and powerful weapon choices.
When Wuchang: Fallen Feathers came out, many assumed that it would be quite smooth across all platforms. The design of the world is extremely niche, the fighting feels great, and the overall Soulslike atmosphere appeared to be quite well executed. But on PC, the players have been experiencing unexpected levels of performance issues.
Although the system requirements of the game aren't terribly high, a lot of people are complaining that it runs badly on their systems. Framerate drops occur, stuttering appears particularly outside environments, and even more powerful PCs are not immune to it.
DLSS Isn't Working Like It Should
One major disappointment was the frame generation of DLSS 4, it's not working as it should. Either it don't turn on properly or simply causes more issues than good. It's one of those features that ought to have smoothed gameplay but really made it worse in certain scenarios.
Textures sometimes late-load, and you have these strange hitches that interrupt the flow. Which is a shame, 'cause the lighting effects and environments are actually gorgeous when everything works right.
You Gotta Fix It Yourself (for Now)
Right now, best thing to do is mess around in the settings menu. People are finding that turning off DLSS frame gen, lowering resolution scale, and switching off fancy post-processing makes the game way more stable. Not ideal, but it helps.
It feels like players have to do the job of optimizing, which should’ve been handled before launch. But until patches come, it’s what we’re stuck with.
The essence of Wuchang remains. A whole lot of goodness in its combat, story atmosphere, and aesthetic tone. But for PC users, it's difficult to have fun with all that if the performance keeps getting in the way. If they can get around to it soon, this might quickly become a fan favorite. For the meantime, gotta adjust and hope for better updates.
