Modi Government Issues High Security Warning to iPhone, Mac and iPad Users, Know Why

If you are an iPhone, Mac or iPad user then you might be in danger.  CERT or the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team has issued a warning for Apple Products. The agency has given a high-security rating to the issue.  The reason behind the issuance of this warning is the discovery of a 'remote code execution vulnerability' in Apple products. This vulnerability can lead to remote access to your device by any hacker.

According to CERT-In devices, those users who have their iPhone and iPad set below below 17.4.1 version are at risk. This version is available for all iPhones after iPhone XS, iPad Pro 12.9-inch 2nd generation and later, all versions after iPad Pro 10.5-inch, iPad Pro 11-inch 1st generation and later, iPad Air gen 3 and later, iPad gen 6 and later, and iPad mini version after gen 5. 

The vulnerability extends to iOS and iPad versions preceding the 16.7.7 update, which is accessible on iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPad 5th generation, iPad Pro 9.7-inch, and iPad Pro 12.9-inch 1st generation.

Furthermore, the remote code execution vulnerability also impacts earlier versions of Apple Safari, preceding 17.4.1, available on macOS Monterey and macOS Ventura. Additionally, MacBook users on macOS Ventura versions before 13.6.6, and macOS Sonoma versions before 14.4.1 are affected.

In addition to iPhone, iPad, and MacBook, there's a cautionary alert for Vision Pro headset users due to a vulnerability in VisionOS versions preceding 1.1.1.

According to the vulnerability note on the CERT-In website, the issue stems from an "out-of-bounds write issue in WebRTC and CoreMedia." This implies that the security flaw could potentially enable a hacker to deceive someone into visiting a specific link, subsequently facilitating remote device attacks. The CERT-In website's vulnerability note emphasizes, "Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system."
