This detail comes just days after the company shared hardware and storage requirements for the PC version of the game. Unsurprising to anyone, the game requires a significant amount of storage space for users. In addition, Activision also noted that players can uninstall portions of the game that they don’t want to conserve space. Let’s check out the storage requirements of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War along with space-saving measures here.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War storage requirements, details
One obvious thing to note before we start is that next-generation versions require more storage space than the last-gen versions. This difference between the generations is due to the additional resources required to take benefit of the more powerful hardware. Getting to the details, the Sony PlayStation 4 players will need 95GB and Microsoft Xbox One 94GB storage. Moving to the next-gen, Xbox Series X and Series S users require 136GB and Sony PS5 users need 133GB. Like Warzone, the developers have introduced the ability to remove certain parts of the game that one may not require.
The option to remove parts of the game is a welcome change but it does come with a twist. The twist here involves installing the complete game in the beginning. There is no option to install the parts of the game that you need. Instead, you download the entire game, install it, and then proceed with removing the unwanted parts. For some context, the PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War requires 82GB for the game. However, this does not include multiplayer mode or ultra-graphics resources. Players who want to play multiplayer need an additional 35GB.
The game along with ultra-graphics is about 125GB making the total size to be 160GB. This is a significant reduction from the original requirement of about 250GB, but it still does not include Warzone. As per the report, Warzone may push the game to “at least 200GB”. Finally, the game is set to launch on November 13.
