Call of Duty: Warzone 2 fans are counting the days until the return of their favourite gun: the G36C assault rifle. This iconic weapon has become a fan-favourite due to its impressive aesthetic and its impressive power. Its return will bring a wave of nostalgia to all of the veterans of the series who remember it fondly.
The Call of Duty Community's Fondness for Iconic Guns
Throughout its history, Call of Duty has seen a range of iconic guns that have won over the hearts of its fans. The team behind the game has shown love for these fan-favourites by introducing various callbacks, such as the FJX Imperium, which was modelled after the Intervention. With the G36C, another nostalgic journey awaits.
There have been leaks suggesting that the upcoming Call of Duty game in 2023 might be titled Modern Warfare 3 and will reintroduce classic maps that fans love. This wouldn't be surprising, considering that Modern Warfare 2 has already brought back Dome and Showdown.
However, there is one iconic assault rifle that has yet to make an appearance, and Warzone 2 players are hoping for its return along with its entire weapon family.
When discussing which gun should be brought back to Call of Duty, players offered various suggestions. However, none were as popular as the G36C, which seems to be the most desired Assault Rifle among Call of Duty fans.
The top response in a thread asking about fans' preferred gun to return simply stated "G36C," while another user expressed their wish to see the entire G36 family make a comeback.
The G36 was mentioned in several lists where fans described their desired weapons. One detailed list included: "HK G36, HK416, M27 IAR, HK417, M249, M240B, M60, PP2000, FN FAL, FN Five-seven, L85, Howa Type 64, Type 89," with the G36 being their top choice.
The G36 platform, in particular its LMG variant, resurfaced in the 2019 title of the Modern Warfare series as the Holger-26. Interestingly, the assault rifle version of this powerhouse has not been available in the Call of Duty multiplayer games ever since Modern Warfare 3 was released in 2011. Even so, many players still hold a certain nostalgia for the G36.
Despite the fondness harboured by fans for this rifle, it was not the only gun to have appeared more than once. In both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, hardcore players have shown immense enthusiasm for the return of a wide range of weapons, such as the FAL, FAMAS, Kar98k, Grau, Dragunov, Odin, and Uzi.
