Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania: How to begin the Castlevania DLC

Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania has been released but some players are still a little confused as to where the DLC actually is. But don’t worry, here’s a guide for you.

Players get to encounter enemies from the Castlevania series in Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania, the Metroidvania game. It can be a little annoying if you don't know where to look for the Castlevania DLC in Dead Cells, and it's also a little complicated. The Castlevania content in the game is not instantly obvious, especially if you are playing the game for the first time.

How to access Castlevania DLC in Dead Cells

In Dead Cells, players cannot begin the Return to Castlevania journey with zero deaths. You must die at least three times in the game to obtain access to Castlevania DLC, thus new players cannot find the DLC on their first attempt.

As players respawn after dying for the third time, they will observe a swarm of huge red bats swooping across their screen, indicating that the DLC is now accessible. The Castlevania DLC will be found within the Prisoner’s Quarters biome. While carefully investigating the area, players will come across Richter Belmont standing in front of a door leading to the Castlevania area.

Speaking with Richter will assist players in reaching a new biome, the Castle's Outskirts. The Castlevania DLC begins right there with the introduction of many new weaponry and monster types from the Castlevania series. However, you must remember to stock up carefully and level up before speaking with Richter, as the Castle's Outskirts is far more difficult than other biomes.

Right when you'll think you've made it to Dracula's inner sanctum, you'll run into his trusty servant, Death. Death's Scythe, a powerful new piece of equipment, is awarded to those who defeat Death. Afterwards, Alucard will tell you that he needs to look into it further, and you will be returned to the main Dead Cells adventure. There, you'll have the option of quickly returning to the beginning or simply dying to continue the Castlevania journey.

How to find the Master’s Keep

After defeating Death, the players will meet Alucard, who will direct them to the entrance to the Master's Keep, which will be reachable through the Clock Tower. At that time, the game would also warn players that they can only access Castlevania content once per run, implying that there are no shortcuts.

You must travel to the Clock Room (boss are) after reaching the Clock Tower. After killing the Time Keeper, the door behind him will take you to Castlevania's second region (Dracula's Castle), which has a gateway to the Master's Keep. This area is more difficult because Dracula is present and cannot be wounded, and it will include random elements such as swarms of bats, fireballs, and the castle flipping upside down.

After the players reach the biome's final region, they will have to confront Dracula himself.
