God of War TV series will be ‘incredibly true to the source material’, says Amazon Studios' Head of Television
In addition to the battles, the series would also develop an emotional connection with the audience by telling the story from God of War (2018) onwards.

Sony has announced that their fan-favorite game God of War Ragnarök will be adopted for the live-action television series on Amazon Prime Video. The show would depict the father-son relationship of Kratos and Atreus, as seen in God of War (2018).
Vernon Sanders, Amazon Studios' head of television, told Collider that the series is “going to be huge”. He added, “If you never played the game, you will fall in love with the show and feel very much invited in.” According to Vernon Sanders, the company's goal is to produce a show that is "incredibly true" to the iconic game franchise. Sanders also assured the fans that the show would stay true to the game.
Establishing an emotional connection with God of War fans
In addition to the battles, the series would also develop an emotional connection with the audience by telling the story from God of War (2018) onwards.
“The thing we’re always looking for is whether there is a real emotional core or if there’s a real narrative story, and I think that’s part of what makes God of War so special”, said Vernon. He also assured the fans that the show would stick to the original storyline and maintain the emotional core of the father-son relationship while incorporating Norse mythology.
“We do incredibly well with adaptations, from ‘Invincible’ to ‘The Boys’. I mean, we just covered so many of them, right? And so we know that there’s such a passionate fan base for God of War”, Vernon Sander told Collider.
Sanders also talked about the success of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power stating that over 100 million people watched the series on Prime Video, and more than 24 billion minutes were streamed.
The upcoming series' executive producer will be Cory Barlog, the creative director of Sony Santa Monica Studio, who has been associated with the God of War franchise since its outset. The show is being created in collaboration with PlayStation Productions, Sony Pictures Television, and Amazon Studios.
