Leaked Fortnite info: Mario Kart-style racing mode speeds in with battle pass

Fortnite's upcoming racing mode, inspired by Mario Kart, promises turbo boosts, flips, and exciting gameplay. Leaks hint at a substantial and lasting addition to the game.

Although a new racing mode for Fortnite hasn't been formally announced since May, dataminers consistently find details about the game well in advance of Epic Games, so practically everything about it leaks out before it does.

Turbo boosts and aerial flips: Thrilling gameplay experience

However, the racing mode appears to be far more intricate than simply adding a new skin or weapon, with reports claiming that the vehicles' handling is reminiscent of Mario Kart. There will be turbo boosts, and similar to Nintendo games, boosting right before the race starts will give you an advantage.

Like Rocket League, you can also perform flips in the air, so a lot of inspiration will go into this game. Actually, since the Octane vehicle from that game appears to be making its way to Fortnite, there might be an official crossover. The mode will have a demolition derby element when you hit other cars in addition to a drifting mechanic and boost that sound similar to Mario Kart.

It will also feature an oversteer mechanism, course conditions like ice and mud, and more fantastical features like performing tricks in midair and accelerating to supersonic speed.

Its own tutorial and battle pass, as well as competitive and non-competitive modes and a garage with customisable car cosmetics, suggest that the mode must be pretty substantial. Something very large-scale that is probably not going to vanish after just one season is suggested by the codenames, which could indicate up to seven different tracks.

A number of other sources, including MasterGamers#8449 and the YLS-Dev trust, as well as reliable leaker HYPEX, are also the source of the information.

While Chapter 4 Season 4 is anticipated to begin at the end of this month, there shouldn't be much of a wait for the official announcement and the mode itself. It's difficult to recall a single Fortnite rumour that didn't eventually come true.
