Diablo 4 players will discover a variety of chests to open as they explore the expansive Sanctuary environment. To open the most popular chests, all you have to do is push a button. Some varieties, like the Resplendent Guardian Chests, could require users to vanquish an Elite enemy before anything else. Then there is the Mutterlock kind, which appears to be limited to Nightmare Dungeons at this point.

Locating a Mutterlock Chest in Diablo 4
In D4, the Mutterlock Chest is the rarest chest. As previously stated, most reports seem to indicate that they only appear in Nightmare Dungeons. Because of their extreme rarity, they also appear at random.
It's not even guaranteed that a chest of this type will reappear if you visit a dungeon several times. Those who come across one should therefore attempt to open it at the very least before carrying on with their journey. Since they are kept closed by a lock and golden chains, Mutterlock Chests are fairly obvious to spot.
Opening Mutterlock Chests
A lengthy line of Latin phrases will appear when players click on a Mutterlock Chest they have located. Ignoring is currently the best course of action. The three stone inscriptions that read Birth, Life and Death should be the players' first priority as they search every room in the vicinity. “The markings are illegible, but a whisper is heard,” is the text that appears when you click on a stone. That should then be a disembodied voice whispering the matching line.
Upon discovering the three inscriptions, players of Diablo 4 are required to go back to the Mutterlock Chest and click on the phrases they saw, correspondingly designating words for Birth, Life, and Death, in the correct order.
At that point, the chest should open to reveal whatever bounty is inside and change into a Resplendent Chest. And yes it's true that sometimes the benefits might not seem worth the effort.
