Final Fantasy XVI Makes Surprise Debut on Xbox Platforms
Final Fantasy XVI shadow drops on Xbox with full cross-play and both DLCs included.

In a dramatic twist to the events in the Xbox Games Showcase, Square Enix's highly-regarded RPG Final Fantasy XVI was made available on Xbox platforms on the spot. The game's much-anticipated release on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC through Xbox came about almost two years following its timed exclusive introduction on PlayStation 5.
The launch is available with full Xbox Play Anywhere compatibility, which enables players to move between Xbox consoles and Windows PC without an extra purchase. This cross-play makes sure that the players are able to keep playing the game seamlessly across both the platforms.
Final Fantasy XVI sets the player within a war-torn world where five strong nations fight for dominion of the Mothercrystals—ancient reservoirs of magical power. As these columns of power turn the continent towards turmoil, individuals named Dominants—fighters who draw power from vast beasts known as Eikons—become the focus of a narrative thick with political machinations, individual strife, and changing allegiances.
Two versions of the game are available to Xbox users. The Standard Edition includes access to the core experience, and the Complete Edition offers both of the post-launch expansions: Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide. Both of these DLCs include meaningful narrative and gameplay content, which expands on the game's already highly detailed storytelling and combat mechanics.
