Mario Kart World Version 1.2.0 Update Has Nerfs Players Were Asking For
The Mario Kart World Version 1.2.0 update reverses one very controversial change from a previous update by returning lap-type courses as an option to select in VS Race and wireless race modes across the board.

The Mario Kart World version 1.2.0 update, released July 29, makes several major changes in performance to enhance the overall experience for players. The update covers item mechanics, CPU difficulty, frequency of course selection, and more. Here is everything that was addressed in the Mario Kart World Version 1.2.0, including the most controversial one.
Mario Kart World Version 1.2.0 Update Changes
One significant change in the 1.2.0 update is the nerf on the Boomerang Flower item. The item's homing power has been reduced slightly, requiring players to aim a little more accurately to make effective use of it, while also requiring them to use more player skill. The chance of receiving the Triple Dash Mushrooms while lower in the race has been decreased, except when in "Frantic" item rules; alternatively, the chance of receiving a question mark block has also been increased.
The computer-controlled (CPU) opponents get a significant downgrade in terms of difficulty in most game modes (except Battle mode), which should make it easier to race, especially for new players. This change was made in fulfillment of previous community feedback that higher-speed CPUs were too aggressive and used too many items.
A few new rules have also been added for the VS Race modes in both Single Play and Multiplayer modes. They include "No COM" and "Mushroom Only," both of which will provide the players with a greater deal of control over their race experience in the game.
Controversial Change from Last Time Addressed
The update reverses one very controversial change from a previous update by returning lap-type courses as an option to select in VS Race and wireless race modes across the board. Meaning that traditional three-lap courses will often be selected, as opposed to Intermission courses, which generated player controversy. The update is wholly applicable to online play as well, since the effect of being limited to the abundance of straightaway courses in VS Race was a player issue.
Besides making the previously mentioned core gameplay and course selections, the 1.2.0 update makes several bug fixes. The bugs addressed ranged from vehicles floating after parachuting off half pipes to incorrect drift rate changes in wireless races to specific track issues on courses, such as Sky-High Sundae and Dino Dino Jungle. No longer will players pick in Time Trial and then discover that they will follow somebody they wouldn't have selected originally. Players are able to choose who to spectate in various ways, to play online, or in local play. The game also remembers where the camera cursor position and size were set in Multiplayer and Online Play. As a final touch for players, the game will display the wait time for any race or battle, which again helps contribute to a cleaner user interface.
