Grief Mode Returns in Black Ops 6 But Still No New Zombies Map in Season 4

Black Ops 6 Season 4 brings back the classic Grief mode in Zombies, but fans are disappointed with no new round-based Zombies map. Read community reactions and what’s missing from the latest update

Black Ops 6 Season 4 is bringing back Grief mode in Zombies — and that’s basically the whole update.

Treyarch confirmed the return of the classic 4v4 PvPvE mode from Black Ops 2, where two teams fight to outlast each other while dealing with waves of zombies. No direct combat between teams, but just enough trolling options to ruin the other side’s run. It’s fun, chaotic, and a nice throwback.

Yet, it feels a bit lackluster. Why? Because nostalgia can only go so far.

No New Zombie Maps

What’s missing? A new round-based map — again. There’s no mention of one and no hint of when it might arrive. That makes four seasons in, and still no follow-up to the core Zombies experience. Which has not gone unnoticed because many are not thrilled.

Community Reaction

Grief coming back is fine. It’ll probably be fun for a few matches, especially for players who remember it from BO2. But for people waiting on actual Zombies progression — this isn’t it.

At this point, it feels more like a holdover than a headline. Nostalgia only carries so far, and right now, it’s doing all the heavy lifting. It makes the season feel flat and perhaps the move is intentional, a break to give the team time to recharge and focus on their next big event.

Either way, Grief mode’s back, sure. But the real question — when’s the next Zombies map? — is still unanswered.
