The Marvel Rivals game has also triggered the speculation of fans once again, with a new Moon Knight skin being released this time, which may be merely a cosmetic one. The other costume with its smooth color scheme running red and gold is a close approximation of the trademark colors that Jean Grey often represented, especially during her stint as Phoenix. Such design decisions seem more than just a visual update, as even it seems that the developers at NetEase are foreshadowing something related to the comic Jean Grey in Season 3.

It is not the first time when Marvel Rivals has used skins to hint future characters. In previous updates, visual hints put into the skins of heroes were afterwards validated as foreshadowing something that was coming later. Similarly, in the case of Moon Knight, the fiery, telekinetic-like aspects of the accents and the golden elements are very close to motifs employed in the cases of Jean Grey in the comic books. This is with no official announcement yet, but the community has been excited about her inclusion mainly due to the previous leaks also stating Jean Grey was an upcoming X-Men character, and so was Elixir.
The third season of Marvel Rivals is projected to stick to the game model in releasing new heroes in two halves of the season. Provided that this trend carries on, the possible appearance of Jean Grey may take place at the beginning or at the middle of the new season. This Moon Knight skin may thus be the indication of her future arrival.
All told, Moon Knight gets more than a cosmetic update with his new skin since it plants breadcrumbs on the path toward Marvel Rivals and the story that will continue to develop alongside its character list.
