"Rising Stars Will Be Announced At BGIS 2025 LAN Finals," Confirms Krafton India
In an interaction with India Today Gaming's Aaryanshi Mohan at the Krafton x PEFI Esports Conclave 2025, Karan Pathak, Associate Director of Esports, gave a few updates about the programs that are running parallel to the official event, BGIS 2025.

Krafton India has been working on various levels to help elevate the Indian esports ecosystem. Starting from college level, the announcement of the Esports College Campus Tour 2024 focused on Tier 1, 2, and 3, and now, in 2025, the Rising Star. In an interaction with India Today Gaming's Aaryanshi Mohan at the Krafton x PEFI Esports Conclave 2025, Karan Pathak, Associate Director of Esports, gave a few updates about the programs that are running parallel to the official event, BGIS 2025.
The grassroots program at Krafton has helped a lot of rising talents across the country. The format of Battlegrounds India Series (BGIS 2025) is built in such a way that it gives aspiring athletes a platform to showcase their skills.
Karan Pathak reveals details about Rising Stars
Pathak describes the grassroots level story in such a way that you have to believe it in cause. For instance, when we asked him if the grassroots-level programs in colleges have helped aspiring players, here's what he had to say.
"Okay, so for the grassroots program, it's for tournaments like BGIS to help these new individuals or the new talents that come. In the top 32 teams right now in the ongoing tournament, we have been able to support three of them, not naming them. Because it's not too cool to get support, is what these kids say."
While seeking help might come as a stigma, in esports, some kind of support in esports takes a person a long way. The same is the case for Krafton India's Rising Star program.
It was announced in the Krafton India 2025 Roadmap and focused on creating BGMI content creators. Of course, it came with certain terms and conditions, but that also, looking at the BGMI playing population of the country would also have a lot of participation. When asked about the progress of Rising Stars, Pathak informed that the names of the selected people will be revealed soon and that due diligence has been done. He said:
"With regards to Rising Star, we will be announcing the 10 selected individuals during the BGIS [2025] LAN finals. And you'll learn more about it."
Bright Future is Here
Since the Esports World Cup is around the corner, the conversations around the 2027 Olympics have been laid on many tables, and finding young talents and training them has become the need of the hour. Abhishek Aggarwal of Trinity Gaming talked about young talents and painted a beautiful picture in front of us. He said, "Imagine this: in the 2033 Esports Olympics, a young 14-year-old child competes under India's banner. That's the vision some of the top stakeholders of the esports scene and the government envision for this growing culture."
This might look like a far-fetched dream, but this Esports Conclave, organised by PEFI and Krafton, was a place for good conversations and dreaming big, since the government now understands the growth potential of esports in the country.
Pathak resonated with what Aggarwal said and believes the Conclave was a step in the right direction and that more good things are waiting to happen to the esports and gaming sector.
"I think this conference by itself is an initiative from Krafton and PEFI, along with the governments of different states of India. Invest India is here. So this is a step towards the future, wherein we work alongside the government to make it sustainable and, of course, find a new start. Like Abhishek said, we are talking about today's kids, 14-year-olds, playing in the Olympics. So I think the process has already been initiated by Krafton, and hopefully, we'll have a lot more stars."
While working on the future, we should about the present and India's representation at the upcoming EWC 2025. That's where hopes lie, for now.
