More than 40 Minutes of PS5 Game Reveals

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Sony announced that the forthcoming broadcast will last longer than 40 minutes and include updates and announcements around upcoming PlayStation 5 games. This back has another installment in Sony's recurring digital event series, which historically is used as a major showcase for revealing first-party exclusives, third-party partnerships, and surprise reveals.

Speculation Points to Big Upcoming Games

Although the official roster is still a secret, industry observers are already speculating on possible appearances. The most hotly anticipated of these is possibly Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which is due out on June 26 as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. With its release just a few weeks away, a showcase spot seems likely.

Another possible contender is the rumored Ghost of Tsushima follow-up, which may be called Ghost of Yotei. Slated for release later this year, the project has created a lot of hype and might be a highlight announcement at the event. Marvel's Wolverine, meanwhile, from Insomniac Games, remains a prime candidate for speculation among fans though its presence is less likely due to no recent development news.

Broader Focus Compared to Last Showcase

Sony's latest State of Play was a deep dive focused entirely on Borderlands 4, offering in-depth details about the upcoming installment of the looter-shooter series. The June 4 issue, however, offers more diversity in terms of games and presents the audience with a better overview of the 2025 PlayStation release schedule.
