At the Combo Breaker 2025 tournament finals, Bandai Namco finally revealed Tekken 8's next big downloadable content plans, with the return of Fahkumram confirmed and a hint at the return of popular fighter Armor King. This comes in light of recent backlash from the community regarding balancing issues, a turning point in the game's rebuilding phase to win back the trust of players.
Fahkumram Returns in July with Patch 2.03
Fahkumram, the electrifying Muay Thai fighter with his thunder-imbued punches and knee and elbow combinations, will join the roster of Tekken 8 this summer. Fahkumram will become available to those who have the Season 2 Character Pass on July 7, alongside the release of Patch 2.03. Players who don't have the pass can buy Fahkumram as a separate character starting from July 10.
Outside of gameplay, the patch will also continue Fahkumram's narrative trajectory from his tragic story in Tekken 7: Fated Retribution. His revised character bundle will also see three new alternate costumes added to the mix, giving players greater opportunities to customize the powerhouse fighter.
Armor King Makes Return in Fall 2025
The conclusion of the Combo Breaker trailer had another surprise—Armor King will be returning in the Fall 2025 DLC. Little has been said regarding how this version of the enigmatic masked wrestler will play a role in Tekken 8's story progression, but his return shows Bandai Namco's intention to intersect legacy characters with story advancement.
Patch Strategy Shifts After Season 2 Controversy
The recent character reveal announcements come as part of a larger course correction to Tekken 8's development trajectory. The Season 2 update, which was released earlier this year, was followed by general criticism from pros and casuals alike, with numerous pointing towards extreme balance concerns and questionable design shifts. To that end, a string of emergency hotfixes was deployed, and significant leadership changes were made.
Tekken series executive producer Katsuhiro Harada publicly spoke out against the backlash last month, confirming that the original balance team would be back. The spearhead of this return is Kohei "Nakatsu" Ikeda, who was in charge of gameplay balancing in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Tekken 7. His return has been received with guarded optimism from the community.
