Waylay’s kit is all about speed, aggression, and flashy plays—perfect for a Duelist. Here’s what they’re bringing to the fight:
Refract

- Reactivate to zip back to it with temporary invulnerability—great for risky plays!
Light Speed
- Primary Fire: Dash forward twice.
- ALT Fire: Dash once (first dash can go upwards).
- Basically, you’re zipping around like a hyper-speed ghost.
Saturate
- Tosses a light cluster that explodes on impact.
- Slows down enemy movement and weapon handling—great for disrupting fights.
Convergent Paths (Ultimate)
- Fires a beam of light that expands over time.
- After a brief delay, you gain a huge speed boost, while enemies caught in the beam get slowed.
- Basically, you’re a blinding speed demon, controlling the battlefield with pure energy.
Waylay’s First Teaser – Hidden in Plain Sight
Waylay wasn’t just a surprise drop—Riot had already sneakily teased them in the Dawn of the Duelist cinematic. In it, Tejo messages an unknown contact, saying:
“This crew has potential, but they’re not you. Stand by.”
Could he have been referring to Waylay? Definitely.
Fans also noticed:
- Waylay’s hand appearing in the cinematic.
- Floating outlines of their silhouette.
- A reflection in Raze’s eyes that might hint at their abilities.
Riot loves their hidden Easter eggs, and this one definitely got the community hyped.
How Will Waylay Change Valorant’s Meta?
With their crazy movement, fast-paced dashes, and beam-based Ult, Waylay could completely shift how Duelists are played. Will they be a new must-pick for entry fraggers, or will they need some tweaking after launch? Only time will tell!
One thing’s for sure—March 5 can’t come soon enough!
