Wild Rift 6.1d Patch Brings New Champion, Adventure Enhancements, and Extensive Balance Changes

Astro Bot returns on PS5 with 80+ levels, new powers, and a Sept 6 release date.

Astro is returning with his biggest journey yet. Simply titled Astro Bot, this upcoming game by Team Asobi is a full-scale 3D platformer, building upon Astro’s Playroom, which released alongside the PS5 back in 2020. The new title was revealed during PlayStation’s latest State of Play and looks much bigger and more ambitious than anything we've seen from the little bot before.

This time, Astro is on a mission to rescue his scattered crew across 6 galaxies and over 80 different levels. The platforming gameplay is returning, but with major upgrades—new abilities, more enemies, and larger, more diverse environments. From sunny beaches to space-themed stages, the trailer already showed a lot of visual variety.

Astro now can use 15+ new powers, like a bulldog booster for dashing and aerial attacks, or mechanical frog arms that lets him swing across gaps. The game includes giant boss fights too, like a huge wolf you fight mid-air on a rocket.

Release date and platforms

Astro Bot is launching September 6, 2025, and is a PS5 exclusive. There's no news on a PC version, which makes sense since it’s built around the PS5’s hardware. Pre-orders are open now with Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions available.

Built for DualSense

Team Asobi is again focusing on the PS5 DualSense controller. Astro Bot will fully support haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, motion controls, and more. Every gadget will have different tactile effects, adding more immersion than before. For example, swinging or boosting will feel unique through the controller.

While Astro’s Playroom didn’t really have a deep story, it served as a tribute to PlayStation's legacy. Astro Bot looks to continue that spirit. Characters inspired by PaRappa the Rapper, God of War, and others show up, suggesting this game blends nostalgia with a proper adventure structure.

Trailer shows what’s new

The reveal trailer runs about 3 minutes and is packed with gameplay. It starts with Astro crash-landing on a beach, then jumps into high-speed flying, underwater swimming, and even monster battles. The game’s colorful worlds and new gadgets clearly make it more than a tech demo—it’s a full adventure.

Digital Deluxe Edition content

  • The Digital Deluxe Edition includes:
  • 2 outfits (Gladiator and Mushroom)
  • DualSense color options
  • Music tracks from the game
  • Art gallery and artifacts
  • Pre-order bonuses like PaRappa costume and special effects

Astro Bot might be lighthearted, but it’s looking like a major PS5 release, packed with creativity and polish. This could finally be the game that cements Astro as PlayStation’s official platforming star.
