Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will get DLC content in 2023 for its Campaign and other modes- no mainline game to launch though
As reported earlier, 2023 will be the first year for Activision's Call of Duty franchise to go without a new installment launch. Instead, Modern Warfare 2 will get a major paid expansion. Here's more on this latest update on Modern Warfare 2.
As we are getting closer to the October 28th launch, more and more fans of Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty fans are wondering whether they want to play the game. And a deciding factor for many has been the fact that a new installment comes out every year. So, on that note, is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II worth your buy? Rumors are doing the rounds that the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is going to be a two-year affair, at the least. Here are all the details you need.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2- Latest update
The latest update comes from Call of Duty leaker, “The Ghost of Hope”. They informed on October 10, via their official handle on Twitter, that a new Campaign DLC for Modern Warfare 2, will release in late 2023, bundles with a “map pack”. The news was further confirmed by Bloomberg journalist, Jason Schreier.

Digging deeper
Schreier had revealed back in February earlier this year, that 2023 is going to be a first for Call of Duty to not have a new mainline launch. Schreier further elaborated, as per his sources, that it was due to the delay of a game scheduled for 2023, to 2024. Apparently, it’s a sequel to Black Ops Cold War, at development in Treyarch. Schreier further added that the delay has been decided upon after the underperformance of certain back-to-back releases from the franchise.
In Schreier’s latest confirmation of leaker Hope’s tweet, he refers to this earlier report of his. There he also mentioned the “steady stream of additional content”, probably the “Campaign DLC”, to release in Fall’23.
Next year they'll be selling new stuff for MW2, an expansion or something like that (not sure exactly what it'll look like but it'll have campaign stuff too). No actual new COD until 2024 as I reported earlier this year

Though we cannot expect more information on this till after the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, we already know of some new content from the franchise already lined up. Warzone 2.0, the battle royale experience of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is already scheduled as post-launch content. Then there’s Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, also launching this November 16th for iOS and Android.
