Polish video game developer, publisher, and distributor CD Projekt Red has just announced yet another delay for Cyberpunk 2077. Looking at the announcement, the company has pushed the game by 21 days from November 19 to December 10. The company revealed that it delayed the game because it is still working on the launch day patch. It also stated that the delay is also likely due to its multi-platform release. For some context, the game is launching on PC, two generations of console hardware, and Google Stadia. Let’s check out more details around the delay of the CD Projekt Red Cyberpunk 2077 here.

Cyberpunk 2077 delayed again, details

The developer shared the news of this new delay in a new note on the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account. It is worth noting that this is not the first delay for the game. Looking closely, the company has already delayed the game twice in the past. Initially, the launch date of the game was set for April 16, 2020. However, the company pushed it to September 17 then November 19, and now December 10. The interesting thing to note here is that the company sticks by the fact that the game has gone Gold. This announcement came earlier this month on October 5. For context, “Gold” means that the game is complete, and the company has finalized the release version of the game.

In fact, the company reaffirmed the November 19 date multiple times on Twitter reassuring its fans. Going through the statement, the company notes that it needs to prepare and test nine versions of the game. It stated, “We need to make sure everything works well, and every version runs smoothly. We’re aware it might seem unrealistic when someone says 21 days can make any difference in such a massive and complex game, but they really do.”

This new delay pushed gamers to the edge with many taking to Twitter to express their disappointment. It is also worth noting that the delays are not the only problem that the studio shared with the fans. Instead, we also saw a mandatory “crunch” to develop the game, which went against the earlier promise. Looking back, Marcin Iwiński, the co-founder of the studio re-iterated that the development of Cyberpunk 2077 will be different. These statements indicated a shift from “crunch” development. The official Twitter account also posted a cheeky reply to one of its “No more delays” tweet after the latest announcement.
