FIFA 23 FUT market crashes as EA accidentally releases a tradeable FUT Heroes Pack for just 25k coins

FIFA 23 suffered a disruptive transfer market crash after EA mistakenly released the FUT Heroes Pack for just 25,000 coins. The pack which potentially contains players worth millions of coins was up for grabs at a garage sale price. To make matters worse for EA, the pack was listed as untradeable but when players opened it, they found it contained a tradeable FUT Hero player inside. Players quickly caught on to this mistake from EA and began to panic sell their FUT Hero cards immediately, since the supply was bound to increase.

This caused a FUT market crash in FIFA 23 and the game has been out for just two weeks. The pack was available for some minutes before EA rolled back on their mistake but the damage to the market was already done. FUT Heroes like David Ginola sell for 1.8 million in the game, so having the chance to pack him for 25,000 coins did not sit for FUT players, especially those who did not find out about the pack before it was taken off the market.
But it’s not just a loss for those who missed out on the pack. Anyone acquainted with FIFA knows the value of trading in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team. Many players had invested in several Heroes players so as to earn a profit on them when their price naturally rises.
Instead, the 25k pack multiplied the supply of Heroes on the market as players listed their FUT Heroes cards to make sizable profits. This resulted in players losing millions of coins as it brought the value of Heroes to an unprecedented low.
Those who did not buy a Heroes player before this error from EA and went on to buy a Hereos pack stood to benefit from this situation. There was no loss suffered and some ended up earning hundreds of thousands of coins, if not millions by just buying a 25k pack.
FUT players accuse EA of manipulating the FIFA 23 transfer market
There has been no word from EA about this error. Many in the FUT community has also accused EA of manipulating the transfer market from time to time, and the chaos during this screw-up was no exception. Several accused EA of buying off many FUT Heroes players off the market to keep the market afloat. Regardless, some players still made a profit while others felt like they are done hard by EA.
To make matters worse, players who did make advantage of EA’s mistake could benefit further from this situation. Since the pack said it has an untradeable card inside, EA could end up giving players another FUT Heroes pack that actually has an untradeable this time. So, some players could now end up with two FUT Heroes players for just 25k. EA has compensated players in this manner whenever the pack’s description has not been in-line with the actual content of the plan.
If you’re one of those who did not buy a 25k pack or had coins invested in FUT Heroes, the frustration is quite understandable. A Redditor wrote, “Imagine having millions of coins invested in heroes LMAO. Crazy how incompetent this company is.”
Another Redditor commented, “EA bought them all up lol no joke i was looking at buying a kuyt 30-40 cards were listed for 54k and they all disappeared instantly. A lot of reputable traders were saying this was definitive proof that EA manipulates the market not just by adjusting pack weight but also buying cards off the market..”
EA has not acknowledged this blunder yet but has scheduled maintenance for today. It’s most likely the response and it’ll be interesting to see what EA will be doing to make up for causing a FUT market crash, that too when the game is not even a month old.
