God of War Ragnarok just received a new trailer, two months ahead of its launch. The trailer to this sequel of 2018’s God of War, walked us through a new realm that we’ll get to explore in Ragnarok- Svartalfheim. God of War from 2018 has already set the premise of the adventure through the Norse universe. We got to explore six of the nine realms – Midgard, Alfheim (home to light and dark elves), Helheim (the Underworld), Jotunheim (Land of the Giants), Niflheim, and Muspelheim. However, the final three Asgard, Vanaheim, and Svartalfheim are still left for us to experience with Kratos. Ragnarok’s Director Eric WIlliams has now revealed that this year, “players will get to explore all nine realms”. The latest gameplay trailer launched, gave us a sneak peak into Svartalheim. Here’s everything new we saw from God of War Ragnarok.

Into Svartalheim- the Dwarf Realm (details)

The latest trailer from PlayStation’s upcoming God of War Ragnarok, was premiered via Game Informer. It is a short video of 1 minute and 37 seconds, which revealed to us some of the sequences from the gameplay we’ll get to experience in Svartalheim- the dwarven realm. We get to see the mine pits, artificial water channels, and cities, posing as “complex environmental puzzles”. The trailer reveals some of the new powers introduced in Kratos, such as, his ability to freeze geysers with his Leviathan axe. His Blades of Chaos can be whipped out to dismantle pots. Atreus on the other hand is now Kratos’ key to Out of Reach devices.

In the diverse world of Svartelheim, we can expect a number of modes of transport to be introduced in the game. We see Kratos and Atreus traversing down a water channel using a canoe. We already saw sled wolves in the reveal trailer. Who knows what more is to come, but level designer, Jon Hickenbottom did explain, “We wanted to evolve the gameplay in the level spaces – more variety and verticality. In Svartalfheim, you’ve got a lot of places that you go to all within one realm. It’s so much content.” Check out the latest insight into God of War Ragnarok right here.

In other news, Rick and Morty too are up and about, excited for the launch of God of War Ragnarok. A crossover ad launched alongside the premiere of Season 6 of Rick and Morty, where the duo portals into the Nine Realms. Rick shaves his head and smears red on his face to imitate the iconic facial tattoo of Kratos, while Morty serves as Atreus. Regardless, it’s a fun gag take on the promotion of God of War Ragnarok, which launches on November 8, 2022, on PlayStation 4 and 5.
