IO Interactive, the Danish video game developer has just announced the details about its next game. The company has teamed up with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) to create a game on James Bond. As per the announcement, the company noted that the working title of its next game is “Project 007”. In addition to this, the company also posted a 59-second-long video teaser for the upcoming game. IO Interactive also shared the link of a sub-domain dedicated to this upcoming game. As per the information available, the company stated that it will develop and publish the James Bond game like Hitman. Project 007 is the next IO Interactive game, details
According to the details available, IO Interactive noted that the game will feature an original Bond story. The game will give players a chance to play as the famous secret agent, James Bond. It also noted that the game will focus on the origin story of 007 including earning the 00 status. IO Interactive also revealed that it is busy “recruiting elite talent from around the world” to create the development team. Right now, we are unsure if Project 007 will be a standalone game or if it will be a series. We are also not sure if the game will be connected to the cinematic franchise in terms of the story. It is likely that we will see important characters from the James Bond world including different supporting agents. However, the timing of the announcement is quite interesting as the world continues to battle with coronavirus. The 25th installment in the James Bond film series, “No Time to Die” has been delayed multiple times due to the pandemic. The movie was scheduled to release in April 2020 but COVID forced the studio to push the release twice. Now, the movie is set to launch on April 2, 2021.
We will have to wait and see how IO Interactive proceeds with the player mechanics of the game. It will both be important and interesting as “No Time to Die” will be the last movie starring Daniel Craig. The film franchise has seen multiple actors portray the role of the spy in the 58 years since the first installment. It will be cool if Project 007 allows players to play as Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan, or Daniel Craig. Finally, this announcement comes just months before IO Interactive is scheduled to launch the final act of its Hitman Franchise.
