PUBG Studio, the Krafton subsidiary responsible for the popular Battle Royale game PUBG Mobile recently announced a new feature. Looking at the initial reveal, the company revealed details around its “Lightweight installation function” along with some details. Now, weeks after the initial announcement, the company has showcased the feature again on its social media channels. The Studio wants to highlight how this feature will help PUBG Mobile players across the globe. As part of this showcase, the company also posted a new video on its YouTube channel along with the tweets. Let’s check out everything we know about the Lightweight installation function available on PUBG Mobile here.
PUBG Mobile Lightweight installation function details
The primary benefit of the latest Lightweight installation function on PUBG Mobile is the reduced file size. PUBG Studio notes that the game will weigh just “610MB” while ensuring “same gaming experience”. The company initially announced the feature about a month back in November. This reduction in size ensures that the Game is about 70 percent smaller than the previous version. In addition to the reduced game size, the developer has also optimized the game performance. The optimizations have resulted in a 10 percent lag reduction ensuring “smoother gameplay”.
Beyond the base package worth 610MB, players can download the rest of the game contents in segments. This ensures that developers can update various parts of the game in a faster manner. It has also introduced an incremental update system. The system will ensure that players only need to download the updated parts of any given resource.
PUBG Studio also revealed that players can customize PUBG Mobile as per their needs or storage availability. As part of the customization, players can add or remove resources from the game in accordance with their preferences. PUBG Mobile app also offers them suggestions to clean up storage space while ensuring that the players have the “most suitable updates”. The latest video teaser doubles down on the features outlined in the past including game customization. This also means that players can only keep the maps that they prefer playing on in the modes of their choice. Some of the most important modes and maps include “Classic Mode: Erangel”, Payload 2.0, private cheer park, Livik map, and more. In the meantime, PUBG Studio is working behind the scenes to try and bring back the game to the Indian market.
