Riot proposes altered Surrender system in League to avoid discrepancies in game.
As League climbs up the ranks as one of the most played games, Riot takes the initiative to improve players’ gaming experience by proposing changes in the surrender system in the latest patch.

League of Legends, usually given the moniker League, is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video game that was created and published by Riot Games back in 2009. The game's inception was influenced by Defense of the Ancients, a custom map designed for Warcraft III. Riot's founders wanted to create a standalone game within the same genre as a result of this inspiration and ended up with LoL.
One of the aspects that can be particularly vexing and bothersome in League of Legends is the presence of your fellow teammates, which could either be a hit or a miss depending on the quality of teammates you’re paired up with. When it comes to being in a solo queue, you find yourself grouped with four other players chosen at random, and their performance could either lead to victory or defeat. Sometimes, the dynamic needed between players in order to coordinate within the game is what changes the fate of a player. Have you ever been in a position where your teammate just refuses to provide support or communicate with you? Yes, I understand the struggle.
Undesirable conduct can exist in the game in various ways, such as engaging in toxic and unnecessary conversations in the chat, or “throwing” the game aka giving the opposing team an advantage, causing chaos and arguments within the team, or persistently calling for a surrender. Riot Games has made attempts to address these issues in the past, but despite their earnest endeavours, players can still exert negative influences on each other during matches. Even when it comes to its other games like Valorant, which is a 5v5 tactical shooter, there is an underlying toxic behaviour which instigates players to quit playing or uninstalling the game.
Once again, the game developers are making efforts to curb such unacceptable behaviour by modifying the mechanics of the surrender vote system in the game. These adjustments are scheduled for implementation in Patch 13.16, and are designed to switch up the surrendering procedure into more of a collaborative "team action” which requires unanimous voting.
In addition, the surrender vote will now automatically conclude if it cannot gain enough support, preventing the persistent presence of the vote box. Moreover, the text box accompanying the vote will now specify the type of surrender in question, be it an AFK Surrender, a regular Surrender, or Remake.
Hopefully, these major changes will reduce the amount of toxicity within the gaming atmosphere and give players a safer space to play, however the one thing that persists is the in-game chatting toxicity. There’s only a few people who end up getting banned for behaviour while others end up getting away with it.
