As we can see, India is still not “officially” on the list, but that isn’t stopping Indians from their getting their hands on the Steam Deck. Here’s more on the latest updates on Valve, and the Steam Deck.

The Game Awards 2022 features a Steam Deck Giveaway

The Game Awards is all set to return this December 8th. One of the most esteemed and awaited awards shows of the year, Valve has announced its participation in the event. Steam Decks will be given away to viewers who watch The Game Awards 2022 live on Steam. One random viewer who satisfies certain eligibility requirements will be selected for a free 512 GB Steam Deck every minute. Requirements include a non-limited Steam account and a Steam purchase made in the past year. However, the giveaway is only applicable to viewers who register from the US, Canada, the UK, and the EU. People from these countries don’t even need to register themselves and reserve a Steam Deck for themselves anymore, in case they want to buy one.

Valve to soon start shipping the Steam Deck in Asia

Valve announced on 30th November that Steam Decks will soon start shipping in Asia. Countries on the pipeline for distribution are Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Interested buyers from these countries can now reserve their Decks. However, once the inventory is made available, the customer will receive a confirmation email. Since then, they have 72 hours to complete their purchase.

As for the Steam Deck's availability in India, the country still does not officially feature on Valve's distribution schedule. However, the handheld has landed in the grey markets of India. Market analyst Rishi Alwani has been updating on the availability of the Steam Deck in India via Mcube Games. This Mumbai-based company imports the handheld from nations where the Steam Deck is officially available, albeit for a higher value.

India however might land up in the distribution zones of the Steam Deck soon, given that Valve is now looking towards Asia for the same. But that is in case the Deck is even scheduled to launch in India ever, unlike the Nintendo handhelds.
