  • July 18, 2025 (UPDATED: July 18, 2025 14:41 IST)

100 METERS anime film reveals trailer, visual, and theme song ahead of its 2025 theatrical release.

The movie, based on Uoto's manga 100 METERS, has a new trailer now with more information regarding it. The new visual poster and the song heard in the film, too, were all revealed recently. The trailer features intense emotion and racing, with the theme song "Rashisa" being heard in the background. The title track was performed by Official Hige Dandism, who are already popular in Japan. The anime's release date for Japan is set for September 19, 2025. Then, GKIDS will release it across North American cinemas in October.

The movie was inspired by the manga that initially appeared in Kodansha's Magazine Pocket and continued from November 2019 to August 2020. It consisted of merely five volumes. Uoto's manga was popular because it combines sports with emotions. Now, the narrative is going to be viewed by new audiences too, through the film version.

The Story is About Running and Extreme Rivalry

The central character is Togashi, a kid who has always won the 100-meter races since he was little. He never had to work too hard. One day, however, a new student named Komiya transferred to his school. Komiya doesn't possess much ability, but he does have a will to succeed. Togashi teaches him how to run, and they both become friends. But then, they became foes.

Years later, they meet again. But now, they are both changed. They have matured, and they are competing on more than just the need to win. The film portrays their problems and camaraderie, as well as how running has been a means for them to know who they actually are.

Hiroaki Tsutsumi composed the background music, having already worked on numerous soundtracks before this one.

The title music of the movie, "Rashisa," was composed and performed by Official Hige Dandism. Their style of music is always emotional, and the same atmosphere is present in this song as well. The trailer had used this song to give the emotional aspect of the film life.
