Captain Celebrity Takes the Spotlight in My Hero Academia Vigilantes

With the hype for the eighth episode of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes growing, the production crew just released a new promotional video and character visual for one of the show's most flamboyant heroes—Captain Celebrity. The American-born professional hero is voiced by veteran actor Toshiyuki Morikawa, best known for voicing Bondrewd in Made in Abyss.

The anime is also bringing in more and more cast and characters to its roster with each subsequent episode. Captain Celebrity, that celebrity among the hero community, is also likely to be more central to the show as the series goes along.

From Manga to Screen: A Vigilante's Journey

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes draws its roots from the manga by Hideyuki Furuhashi and illustrated by Betten Court. The series initially started in the period of August 2016 within Jump GIGA before it was shifted to Shonen Jump+ towards the end of the same year. It concluded in May 2022 with 15 volumes.

The anime production is entrusted to veteran personnel at BONES FILM. Kenichi Suzuki, who earlier worked on JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, is in charge of direction. Series composition is by Yosuke Kuroda, whose work My Hero Academia fans know well. Character designs are done by Takahiko Yoshida, while Yuki Hayashi, Shogo Yamashira, and Yuki Furuhashi create the musical score.

Ordinary Life Turned Heroic

The series revolves around Koichi Haimawari, a student who abandoned his ambition to become a hero. While in a world where everyone has Quirks, or superpowers, very few are officially recognized as heroes. The life of Koichi takes a drastic turn when he and stage performer Pop☆Step are saved by the enigmatic vigilante Knuckleduster. The meeting causes them to create their own unofficial vigilante team, operating outside the system, to save the helpless.

With the series picking up steam, the arrival of Captain Celebrity brings yet another twist to the developing war between underground heroes and the entrenched hero society.
