Cardcaptor Sakura: The Sealed Card Returns to Japanese Theaters for One-Night Anniversary Event

Cardcaptor Sakura fans can expect a blast of nostalgia as Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2: The Sealed Card returns to theaters nationwide for a one-night-only anniversary engagement. The film first came out on July 15, 2000, and was produced as the culmination of the initial anime series. Today, 25 years on, it will again be on the big screen on July 11, reawakening memories for long-time fans and exposing the tale to a new audience.

The screening will also include the short film Leave It to Kero-chan!, just as it was included in the original theatrical release. This follow-up comes on the heels of last year's re-screening of the first Cardcaptor Sakura film, proving the continuing popularity of CLAMP's magical girl franchise.

As a celebration of this landmark, a new trailer and special commemorative poster have been unveiled, fueling the excitement among fans. Audiences viewing the July screening will also receive special art card giveaways as an exclusive keepsake of the occasion. 

Further Screenings and Collector Bonuses

In addition to The Sealed Card's re-release, Cardcaptor Sakura: The First Movie and its short CLOVER will also be back for a limited engagement starting May 30. This dual feature is projected to attract high turnout from collectors and long-time fans in equal measure. Both will screen in 56 theaters throughout Japan, underscoring the high visibility and enduring popularity of the series.

Sakura's Magical Journey Lives On

The first Cardcaptor Sakura series tracks the life of Sakura Kinomoto, a ten-year-old girl whose life is altered when she finds a magical book and releases powerful enchanted cards by accident. Tasked with rescuing them, Sakura rides out her new life as a cardcaptor as well as the typical challenges of growing up. With the encouragement of her friends and loved ones, she learns lessons in responsibility, courage, and what really counts in life.
