Crunchyroll to Launch English Dub of Mono on May 3

Crunchyroll will release Mono's English dub on Saturday, May 3. The anime, where a group of high school students discover the delight of photography and film-making, can now reach more people with its English-language translation.

Located within the walls of a Japanese high school, Mono presents audiences to the Cinephoto Club, a recently established student club devoted to documenting life using cameras. At the center of the narrative is Satsuki Amamiya, a disheartened student following the leave-taking of the president of the Photography Club. Her friend An Kiriyama encourages her to remain engaged by participating in the consolidated Cinephoto Club. The two girls then go on an adventure to retrieve a stolen camera, become acquainted with new classmates, and learn about the emotional potential of photographs and film.

The English cast features Abby Trott as Satsuki, Michaela Murphy as An, Yolis Arroyo as Sakurako, Kana Shimanuki as Haruno, and Hayden Bishop as Kako. Each of them infuses the character with their own tone, giving the show a new sense for English readers.

Mono is based on Afro's manga by the same name, which features Afro as the creator of other hit series such as Laid-Back Camp. The anime features direction by Ryota Aikei, who previously worked on Encouragement of Climb: Next Summit. Studio Soigne took production duties, and series composition was performed by Yoko Yonaiyama, whose previous work includes A Sign of Affection. The characters were created by Takuya Miyahara and the music for the programme written by Hajime Hyakkoku, who imparted a serene, atmospheric feel to the programme.
