The Demon Slayer trilogy will end by 2029 with three films, starting with Infinity Castle in 2024.
Since the Demon Slayer manga initially released in 2016, the series has continued to become more and more popular. Following Season 4's conclusion in 2024, fans were assuming the anime gonna be over shortly. However, the studio Ufotable now announces that the final part of the story is going to be in three movies, not one season. First one, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, will arrive in cinemas on 12 September.
Although fans would like the story to wrap up sooner, the concept for this movie plan appears as though it is not only for stretching it out, but for maintaining very high quality without feeling forced.
Here's The Logic Behind Demon Slayer’s Finale
There are some online posts by @theanimeflow stating that the two other films will be coming out in 2027 and 2029. That is going to take five whole years just to wrap up the entire story. For all the fans who have been waiting since 2019, when anime began, that does seem like an eternity. But perhaps the long timeline is doing the trick.
The one thing is the animation. Ufotable already has a reputation for making everything pop. So if they do take longer, it keeps them from rushing and maintains the quality.
It also helps to see how the first does before creating the second. Like, if they only have a movie come out every two years, they can see what did well and what didn't, then improve on the next one.
Tanjiro’s Final Battle With Muzan Delayed Until 2029
We also have an update that the first film is going to be approximately 2 hours and 35 minutes long. And as the trilogy has to encompass 66 manga chapters, every film gonna do 22 chapters. So each one can potentially be the same length and rhythm.
This entire plan gonna take the Demon Slayer anime close to 10 years in total. And fans still have to wait several more years to get to see the last battle between Tanjiro and Muzan. That just feels like too long, but possibly it's worth it since Ufotable isn't gonna hurry just for the conclusion.

Waiting until 2029 is eternally away, but all the movies will have time to shine individually. So the series doesn't end hastily, but progressively constructs something larger and more memorable. By doing this, Demon Slayer continues without making its fans feel that it's being overused.
