Demon Slayer Issues Legal Warning After Leaked Infinity Castle Trailer

The developers of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba have sent a stern legal notice following the online leak of an unauthorized Infinity Castle Arc trailer video. The clip was meant only for theatergoers watching the revival shows of the Mugen Train Arc in Japan, which started on May 9.

The trailer, intended as an advance exclusive, was shot and posted illegally, prompting a response from authorities. The makers said secretly recording within a theatre is a criminal offense under Japanese law. Posting such content on websites such as X (previously Twitter), YouTube, TikTok, or Facebook is against piracy avoidance and copyright legislation. Perpetrators may be punished by up to 10 years' imprisonment, a fine of 10 million yen, or both.

Trailer Officially Arrives in North America Shortly

In spite of the leak, North American fans are able to legally watch the trailer from May 14, as revival screenings for Mugen Train Arc start, courtesy of distribution by Crunchyroll. The trailer provides the first glimpse at the new Infinity Castle film, which opens in Japan on July 18. There is a global theatrical rollout on August 14, with distribution outside some Asian territories going through Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
