Detective Conan holds the No. 2 spot in Japan as new anime and live-action films debut.

In its seventh weekend (May 30–June 1), Detective Conan: The One-eyed Flashback continued to draw large audiences across Japan, securing second place for the second week in a row. The anime feature, released on April 18, had topped the charts for five consecutive weekends before falling behind Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, which debuted last weekend.

The most recent Detective Conan movie made 346 million yen (around 2.43 million USD) from 242,000 tickets, which is an 8% drop from last weekend. So far, it has earned 13.3 billion yen (93.36 million USD) from 9.21 million tickets. It is now the 28th highest-grossing film ever in Japan, beating *Jurassic Park* (1993) to reach this spot.

The film opened in fourth place, generating 198 million yen (1.39 million USD) from 138,000 viewers. North American fans can expect its release starting July 16 through distributor GKIDS.

Other Films: Shift in Rankings

Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan: At a Confessional, a live-action adaptation based on an episode from Hirohiko Araki’s manga, slipped to fifth in its second weekend after opening in fourth place.

Blank Canvas: My So-Called Artist's Journey, based on Akiko Higashimura’s manga, dropped to sixth place in its third weekend. So far, it has made 582 million yen (4.09 million USD) with 440,000 tickets sold.

The animated concert film *Uta no Prince-sama: TABOO NIGHT XXXX* fell to ninth place in its fourth weekend. By May 27, it had earned about 537 million yen (3.77 million USD) from 306,558 tickets sold.

BADBOYS Debuts Off-Chart but Impresses Fans

Also released on May 30, BADBOYS THE MOVIE, a live-action adaptation of Hiroshi Tanaka’s manga, did not enter the top ten. However, it received favorable audience feedback. It led the Filmarks' first-day satisfaction ranking with a high average rating of 3.98 out of 5, based on 264 viewer reviews.

Japan’s box office continues to show a mix of consistent performers and fresh entries, reflecting diverse audience preferences and strong support for both anime and live-action adaptations.
