French manga Dreamland by Reno Lemaire is getting a Japanese anime adaptation, set to premiere in 2026. A rare global crossover in anime history
May 17, 2025 — Something interesting has happened in anime news. Dreamland, a French manga by Reno Lemaire, is becoming an anime in Japan. It will start airing in 2026. This don’t happen very often. Usually, only Japanese mangas turn into anime, so this is kind of a big moment. It shows how manga is not just Japan thing anymore. People all around the world making and loving it.
A Boy, His Dreams, and Fire Powers
The official account @dreamland_anime on X has posted something, a news. They also shared one teaser picture. It is showing one character flying inside a bright sky with many colors, almost like rainbow. After that, many peoples reacted very fast, saying things like “can’t wait already” and also “finally it’s here.” The picture is really showing a strong magic vibe and also exciting feeling from the story, like how it’s going to be.
In Dreamland story, there is Terrence, the main boy. He is just being normal 17 year old guy. He is feeling very quiet and sad, because his mother was dying in a fire accident. He is always dreaming badly about it. But then, during one of night, he had a dream where he is fighting the fire and wins it. Then after that, he got fire power and become what is known like “fire controller.” Now, when he go sleep, he is going inside a dream land full with power and strange happenings. But still, in the normal day life, he is just going school same like others.
New Doors Opening for Global Manga
The manga mixes French ideas with Japanese-style action and adventure. It started in 2006, and has many fans in France. In 2024, it got translated into Japanese for the first time. That probably helped a lot for this anime to even happen.
