Frieren Anime Season 2 Coming in January 2026, Manga Returns This July

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is returning. The manga is returning in Weekly Shonen Sunday's 34th issue, which will hit the Japanese stores on July 23, 2025. It was discontinued in January, and now, after months of hiatus, it will be published again.

This was stated by Shogakukan in their press release, and also posted it on X (Formerly Twitter) on the official page of Frieren. They also stated that the manga has sold over 30 million copies worldwide, making it a global success. 

Elf Mage Walks Again with Past and Feelings

The central plot revolves around Frieren, who is an elf as well as a magician. She was part of the group that defeated the Demon King. Then the group settles down to lead ordinary lives. But she does not age like ordinary humans, and witnesses how quickly life is over for them. Her friends started disappearing one by one. That's why she set out again, not to battle now, but to learn more about people and what life is.

The series is created by two individuals: Kanehito Yamada, who is the writer, and Tsukasa Abe is the illustrator. The manga began in April 2020, and already 14 volumes have been released in Japan. For English-speaking readers, the version by VIZ Media is officially available.

Anime Also Airing and New Season in the Works

The anime series is still ongoing. It's also being streamed on Crunchyroll, which airs it in most countries as well. They are already preparing for Season 2, and it will arrive in January 2026.

So both manga now return, and anime goes on, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End never lost its audience. This is not merely about magic stuff or fighting, yet this also presents concepts of time going by, memories, and past emotions. When its new segments come out, Frieren's peaceful journey will again be witnessed by its fans.
